For Sale at The Firearm Files we have a German Mauser model 98 Rifle in 8mm. This rifle we dated back to late WWII proaction around 1943 - 1945, the serial number is 52505. Typically later after the war, the serial numbers had a Pre-Fix.

This Rifle is a very unique Mauser, in excellent condition for its age! We would rate this gun at 98%, it is all original bluing and the stock is un-cracked. The stock may not be the original stock, we are guessing this based on the cheek support/shape on the left rear side. The gun has sling loops, and more importantly we can talk about the scope! The scope glass is like it was originally, and the reticle is good. The scope does have the mounts that allow for it to quickly remove. These mounts are Hard to Find and the scope in this condition as well! The design was to allow a sniper to remove the scope if it was damaged in fighting and go back to iron sights. Under the checkered pistol style grip on the stock, there is what appears to be like a texturized piece of either ivory or bone. It is perfectly shaped to the stock. The bore is in excellent condition, with solid lands and grooves. I cannot find any pitting or rusting visible on the gun! The rifle functions, and could be Fired or used for Hunting, but this gun in how interesting it is, should be a Collectors gun!
