There are few things as deeply ingrained into American firearms culture as a lever action .45-70 rifle, especially when it’s made right here on U.S. soil. It evokes images and fantasies of days past while still being wholly capable in the hands of a modern hunter. The Lever Action X Model .45-70 borrows all that nostalgia and crams it into a feature-packed modern big bore rifle that begs to be put through the wringer.
Tough synthetic furniture provides a lightweight and worry-free alternative to our typical hardwood and accommodates in-line sling swivel studs, a Picatinny rail, and M-Lok accessory slots on the forestock. The solid rubber recoil pad ensures that the buttstock won’t slip and slide around while shooting a cartridge that can take down even the largest game in the world. The blued steel barrel is topped off with fiber optic sights for quick target acquisition and the muzzle end is threaded (5/8×24 pitch) to accept a suppressor or any other muzzle device you choose. Continuing with the theme of modularity, the rifle’s receiver is drilled and tapped to accept your choice of optics.
Keeping true to our roots, the Lever Action X Model .45-70 utilizes a 4-round removable tube magazine for convenient unloading, and the addition of a side loading gate allows that magazine to be kept topped off without needing to remove the tube or suppressor.
Whether you’re in need of a lightweight brush gun, versatile hog dropper, rugged deer gun, dedicated truck gun, or all the above, you will be hard-pressed to find a better option. The lever action .45-70 has been around forever, but that doesn’t mean it needs to stop evolving to meet modern needs.
Custom Build Information:
For this build we used the Ranger Point Precision Pew View Root Beer Stock with Pistol Grip, and Tactical For-arm. The For-arm has an integrated aluminum cover that fully covers the barrel and uses an integrated Pic Rail for an extended Optics Plate. The lengthy plate can be utilized when running a LPVO and a micro red dot on a 45 degree, or running a LPVO with a clip on thermal, or running a Holographic Weapons Sight with a Magnifier, the extra rail length can be useful. The cover over the barrel gives the shooter the ability to fully grip with their support hand in a thumb over bore stance, liked by a ton of professional tactical shooters. On the stock we placed a Quiver from Ranger point, that can be flipped to the left side or even mounted onto the MLOK rail very easily. For a small but important detail we replaced the takedown lever screw with a Ranger Point 45/70 Takedown screw, a nice accent to the rifle but also practical for disassembling the rifle and cleaning it, without having to use a screw driver. Another small detail, we used a BCM Single Point Sling mount, and mounted it for a Right Handed Shooter. This allows for Quick attachment for QD Slings, this mount can be moved anywhere in the MLOK rail system. For the Optic we used a Holosun 407K in Red, the idea was to keep the dot minimal in size, keeping the build light weight, but to also provide a high quality red dot that won't break under pressure, and will give the shooter a quick reaction Dot, to engage targets quickly and efficiently. This rifle would be the perfect gun for Home Protection Tactical Application, a sweet Truck Gun setup, or Back packing/Camping Gun where Bears might be an issue. The looks and design will surely make everyone that likes guns Jealous!
