For Sale at The Firearm Files we have a Used Springfield 1884 Trapdoor Rifle chambered in .45-70 Gov't. This rifle has a Breech loaded action for a single shot, and a 32 inch barrel. This rifle is an Antique, built in 1888 and can be purchased without a FFL transfer, it ships to your door. This rifle is Beautiful, with all parts and does not appear to have any modifications from when it was built. Be cautious and shoot low powder charged loads if you are buying this to shoot it, as these guns were not built to withstand high powder charge loads like the modern 45/70 rifles.
Condition: We would rate this gun at 97% condition, our oly criticism is a smallsurface level crack that is forming on top of the grip, it is pictured well and is surface level, it goes no deeper than shown. The bluing has turned to patina, which is common on such an old rifle and looks very nice! This rifle should be hanging on the wall of a study, to view or shown off as a collector. The bore looks great, very clean with good lands and grooves. I dont see any deep pitting or rusting, there are a few small specs of rust on the receiver. Overall this gun I would add to my collection, it is such a cool old piece!
