The Springfield 1898 Krag Jorgensen Rifle was one of the first Repeating Bolt Action arms in 30 caliber adopted by the US Military. This rifle was built toward the end of production of these guns, late in 1903.
Condition: We would rate this gun at 96% for condition, it is in good condition. The stock does not show any cracks, there is a proof stamping on the left side of the stock which means the gun met approval by the government and was adopted as a service weapon. The minor issues that we can find, the front sight has been welded on, most likely replaced at some point. The receiver has alot of bluing loss. Overall, this rifle would be a very nice Krag for a collector that wants a good shooter! The bore shows strong rifling and good lands and grooves. We dont see rust on the rifle, mainly bluing loss from age. The rear sight appears to be the original sight, check out the detailed pictures for more on condition!
