Weatherby builds some of the finest hunting rifles available, the Vanguard Series is a budget line gun built to be used hard in the field. We wanted to take a Vanguard, and build it out into a shooter, the perfect Elk Gun! This rifle will shoot 3/4" groups at 100 yards with 130gr Hornady American Whitetail ammo, a sub MOA accuracy rifle. It groups very nicely and is ready for a lifetime of hunting in the field!
Build Details:
For this build we started by installing a HS Precision Pro Series Sporter Stock, a full Fiberglass Stock, Gray in tone color with a Black Splatter. We then installed a Timney Trigger, that breaks crisply around 3 Lbs. To aid in accuracy we cut a target crown on the barrel and did Full Bedding to the stock. For the optic we chose a Swarovski Z3 4-12x50mm L BRH, which gives the shooter a nice wide view, with incremental lines to quickly adjust and fire on targets without adjusting the scope knobs. We mounted the scope with Talley Rings/Bases, setting it at the perfect height with a 2mm clearance off the barrel, on the bell. This build shoots like we built it, insanely accurate and could shoot even more accurately with hand loads or Premium Ammunition.
