Used and For Sale at The Firearm Files we have a Vintage Winchester Model 60A Target rifle in .22 Long Rifle. This rifle was built around 1932-1939, based on the model and the barrel length of 27". Winchester made only 6118 of these guns. This gun has the pistol grip walnut stock, and is topped off with a Vintage Mossberg Acrobatic Scope. The scope glass is cloudy, but the shorthairs are good. I don't know if the lens needs cleaned or if the scope picture is just not good. The scope also has wobble, like the bases are loose from the barrel and receiver. I would rate this rifle at 97% condition, the finish is all original, stock is un cracked, the butt plate is original metal, the bore is clean and shows visible lands and grooves. This gun is unique in that you cycle the bolt to load it, then manually cock back the back of the bolt by pulling it backwards. It is then ready to fire. These guns originally came with a Lyman rear sight, so you can see the 2 holes on the left side of the receiver where that was originally mounted. The scope was an added feature at some point, and does add value to a collector for this gun. The stamping on the barrel is marked "Made in USA Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Model 60A Target New Haven Conn. Patent Pending 22 Long Rifle, Winchester Trade Mark."
